Views of Chicago

Chicago is one of the world’s most vibrant cities, and its unique character and spirit is expressed in microcosm by its incredibly rich, creative, varied, and bustling musical life. 

This proposal is for funding to commission a new “multi-composition” of nine interconnected pieces, with each piece written for a different Chicago-based chamber ensemble across the jazz, classical, vocal, and new music genres. In addition to the world premiere performances to be given by each ensemble, the entire multi-composition will be recorded and released on a CD. 

This project marks the first time so many Chicago-based ensembles have ever collaborated on a single project.
